Carl Tiedemann, SIOR, became interested in wines in the mid 1990s after being introduced to Napa Valley wines by friends. As president and chief operating officer of the Tiedemann Group, an organization of interrelated companies providing an array of real estate and construction services throughout the Midwest, Carl quickly discovered he really loved everything related to wine. Once friends connected him to a few Napa Valley winemakers, he traveled there and began to buy wines to create his own wine collection. Always a natural entrepreneur, it wasn’t long before he turned his hobby into a business.
He started Tiedemann Wines, an Indiana wine distribution company, in 2009 and his winemaking career in 2010. He developed Glenwood Cellars’ first wines: the 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon and the 2008 Chardonnay. Six months later he crafted the 2008 Tiedemann Wines Signature Series, a Bordeaux-style red wine.
With the focus always on quality, consistency and elegance, Carl continues to refine his wine portfolio. Today Glenwood Cellars has eight wines in it collection; some under the Glenwood Cellars label and some under the Tiedemann label. Glenwood Cellars continues to produce the first three wines it started with and has added a Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Dessert wine, Merlot, and a red named Adler’s Blend, named after Carl’s grandson Adler Bear Carris. Overseeing wine production with his two winemakers Bruce Devlin and Kent Humphrey, Carl is committed to continuing Glenwood Cellars Wines as a small family boutique winery dedicated to producing great wines.
